Curriculum Standards

Textbooks and Instructional Materials

The District is proud of the quality of instructional materials which students and teachers use to support our curriculum standards.

Textbooks are normally adopted on a state curriculum cycle by the district from a list of materials approved by the state of California.  SRVUSD adopted  English/Language Arts programs for grades K-8 in 2004; for History/Social Science, grades K-12, in 2007; Science for grades K-12 in 2008,  and  our new common core-aligned mathematics curriculum was just adopted in 2016. Science will be the next subject up for adoption. Click here for the revised schedule for Curriculum Framework Development and Adoption of K-8 Instructional Materials.

Each time textbooks are adopted, professional development is offered on units of study and strategies in using the materials. All textbooks and materials that are adopted and approved are aligned with the state and district standards and benchmarks. Educational computer software and internet resources are utilized at every grade level to support student achievement toward meeting standards. Teachers have frequent professional development opportunities to support instruction throughout the year.
