Individualized Education Program (IEP)
I.E.P. Development

When a student with exceptional needs has been found eligible for Special Education, an Individualized Education Program (IEP) will be developed. An IEP is a written document which includes instructional goals and objectives based upon the student's educational needs as specified by the IEP team.

The parent/guardian will be asked for written approval of the IEP at the meeting. Goals will be developed and reviewed yearly. No change in educational placement or program will occur without parent/guardian permission except through a due process. Communication between parties involved will continue and parents are encouraged to request informal conferences with the teachers, to visit the classroom, and utilize notes, or phone calls to learn about their child's program and performance.

Confidentiality of Records
All individualized education program records are maintained in accordance with state and federal pupil confidentiality laws.

Transfer or Copies of Records:

  • Will be sent to other agencies or persons outside of the district only with written request and permission of the parent/guardian or by court order.
  • May be transferred to other public education agencies involved in the student's educational program without written permission.
  • May be requested by students of legal age.
  • A reproduction fee may be charged.
