Sir Ken Robinson

IS OUR CURRENT EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM KILLING CREATIVITY?

Creativity expert, Sir Ken Robinson, has a witty and innovative take on what is happening in schools all over the world and why creativity has become less and less of a priority.

He was invited to speak at the TED conference -- a conference dedicated to cutting-edge philosophy and ideas in the areas of Technology, Entertainment and Design.  Speakers are asked to give "the speech of their life" in 17 minutes.  Ken Robinson does this on a topic that is not only a passionate touch-point for our music teachers, but an important ideal to all children.

"In every successful business...there is one budget line that never gets cut.  It's called 'Product Development' - and it's the key to any company's future growth.  Music education is critical to the product development of this nation's most important resource - our children."
-- John Sykes, President, VH1

State Music Standards

"Education in music is most sovereign, because more than anything else, rhythm and harmony find their way to the inmost soul and take strongest hold upon it, bringing with them and imparting grace, if one is rightly trained." -- Plato
