USDA Farmers to Families Food Boxes Now Served on Mondays

USDA Free Farmers to Families Food Boxes

USDA is sponsoring the Farmers to Families Food Box Program that helps farmers distribute their surplus food products to families in need nationwide at no charge.  These boxes are available along with our Breakfast and Lunch Meals at FREE Grab And Go Serving Locations (PDF) every Monday from 10:30am - 1:30pm beginning February 22nd, 2021 and continuing through the end of March. The Child Nutrition Department does not determine the contents of the food boxes.  Please check the this webpage for updates.

Updated February 19, 2021.

USDA determines the availability of the food boxes each week so cannot guarantee them.

The number of food boxes we receive and it’s contents depends on USDA and our supplier and is not something our department controls.

Starting on Monday, February 22nd, 2021 food boxes will be distributed on Mondays between 10:30am - 1:30pm until supplies run out.

Food boxes are available along with our Breakfast and Lunch Meals at FREE Grab And Go Serving Locations (PDF)

Each site is set up for families to drive through and pick up their meals and food boxes.   We ask that you stay in your car (for everyone's safety) and wait in line until your turn.  You will need to provide us with the number of children you need meals and whether or not you want a food box.

Food boxes are available to anyone but we hope our families most in need can take advantage of these boxes.  While we do not discourage anyone from taking a food box, please take the food boxes only if you need them.

We are unable to take reservations and boxes are available on a first come first serve basis.

There is no charge for the USDA Food box. They are FREE to all SRVUSD Families with students 18 years old and under.  No Student ID, Application or Registration needed.

Farmers to Families Food Boxes and its contents is determined by USDA and one box per family is distributed.  We distribute these boxes for the USDA in their efforts to support Farmers and Families affected by the Pandemic.  The Child Nutrition department distributes its own Food Boxes and determines the contents.  These boxes are distributed usually over a holiday like Presidents Day in lieu of our Grab N Go (GNG) meal service and one box per student 18 years old and under is provided.  For more information on the Farmers to Families Food Boxes visit https://www.ams.usda.gov/selling-food-to-usda/farmers-to-families-food-box

Since offering both the USDA Farmers to Families Food Boxes as well as our own Child Nutrition Food Boxes we have rarely had surplus boxes. When we have had Food Boxes or meals for that matter, we have a couple of organizations in which we donate the excess food.
